The 13th international conference on Public Health among Greater Mekong Sub-Regional countries on "Enhancing transdisciplinary collaborations on Education and Research to tackle priority public health issues in the new Era" has following objectives:

  • To strengthen the relationship of Faculties of Public Health among the Southeast Asian countries and in the world;
  • To share research results in the field of Public Health as well as priority public health issues among greater Mekong Sub-Regional countries;
  • To search for feasible solutions to enhance international collaboration among Public Health Faculties in Mekong Sub-Region and a wider area of the Southeast Asian countries about training and research in Public Health.

An abstract should be in one paragraph with no more 350 words, describing the major aspects of the entire paper in a prescribed sequence that includes: 1) Introduction: The overall purpose of the study and the research problem(s) you investigated; 2) Objective(s): The outcomes that you aim to achieve by conducting research; 3) Method: The basic design of the study; 4) Results: Major findings or trends found as a result of your analysis; and, 5) Conclusions: a brief summary of your interpretations and conclusions.

ICHR achievements on international cooperation and publication

International cooperation and publication in prestigious international journals have been one of the focuses of ICHR's mission. Throughout the development of the ICHR is the development of institutes staff under the guidance of A/Prof. Vo Van Thang and Prof. Michael Dunne. This has shown an increase in both quantity and quality in research, international collaborations, and publications. The number of articles appearing in high-ranking journals such as BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth/Geriatrics/Public Health, Plos One, Frontier, Toxicon… is increasing with citations from domestic and international colleagues, as well as received recognition among scientific community.

 

Since its establishment (2014) up to now, the number of international publications of ICHR has increased in quantity and quality

 

 The number of articles appearing in high-ranking journals is increasing and the appearance of ICHR members as first author or corresponding author. Please click here to see more.

 

The 5 main research themes of the ICHR include Maternal & Child Health and Reproductive Health, Mental health and NCDs, Health behaviors, Infectious and Tropical diseases, and Environmental Health. These are popular public health topics in Vietnam. For quality articles on these themes, ICHR acknowledge the efforts of the Institute's researchers in domestic and foreign cooperation projects. Since then, quality articles associated with the actual situation, the health situation in the country and in the region, internationally.. This article summarizes ICHR's achievements in the following themes:

 

1. Maternal & Child Health and Reproductive Health:

Maternal & Child Health and Reproductive Health covers the health concerns and interventions across the life course involving women before and during pregnancy; newborns, that is, the first 28 days of life; and children to their fifth birthday. This is the research topic of the ICHR Institute over the years with a team of domestic and international quality researchers.

Linda Murray - PhD student from Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Australia that conducted project "Intervention model of health care for women with postnatal depression in central Vietnam" with technical support and advice from ICHR.

 

2. Mental health and NCDs:

Mental Health and NCDs are health issues that have received a lot of attention in recent years. ICHR Institute has leading experts in these fields in the Central - Central Highlands region, participating in research on mental health in vulnerable subjects such as postpartum women, the elderly... Besides, there are time-appropriate studies such as stress in health care workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The ICHR has organized the workshop on ‘Mental Health in Vietnamese communities: "Evidence from research with children, youth, adults of working age and elderly people"Researchers from the ICRH and colleagues from health and education organizations and sectors have presented the main findings from studies on the mental health of the communities among different age groups carried out in national and central Vietnam. 3. Health behaviors

Health behaviors are actions individuals take that affect their health. Research on health behavior to contribute to finding risk factors, assessing the impact of these factors on human health is the work that ICHR researchers have done over the years.

ICHR Institute has invited experts in the fields of nutrition, psychology domestically and internationally to participate in quality research and publications. In the picture is a seminar on nutrition - food hygiene and safety held during the Science Festival co-organized by ICHR Institute.

 

4. Infectious and Tropical diseases

Vietnam faces infectious diseases, tropical diseases related to the climate characteristics of the region. Research in these areas is also interested by the ICHR Institute with many quality studies and projects.

5. Environmental Health

Environmental health is the branch of public health that: focuses on the relationships between people and their environment; promotes human health and well-being; and fosters healthy and safe communities. Environmental health is a key part of any comprehensive public health system. This is a new research problem that requires ICHR researchers to constantly update their knowledge to respond to the development of the scientific environment.
