The 13th international conference on Public Health among Greater Mekong Sub-Regional countries on "Enhancing transdisciplinary collaborations on Education and Research to tackle priority public health issues in the new Era" has following objectives:

  • To strengthen the relationship of Faculties of Public Health among the Southeast Asian countries and in the world;
  • To share research results in the field of Public Health as well as priority public health issues among greater Mekong Sub-Regional countries;
  • To search for feasible solutions to enhance international collaboration among Public Health Faculties in Mekong Sub-Region and a wider area of the Southeast Asian countries about training and research in Public Health.

An abstract should be in one paragraph with no more 350 words, describing the major aspects of the entire paper in a prescribed sequence that includes: 1) Introduction: The overall purpose of the study and the research problem(s) you investigated; 2) Objective(s): The outcomes that you aim to achieve by conducting research; 3) Method: The basic design of the study; 4) Results: Major findings or trends found as a result of your analysis; and, 5) Conclusions: a brief summary of your interpretations and conclusions.

Thua Thien Hue provincial Association of Public Health and Preventive Medicine in collaboration with the Faculty of Public Health and the Institute for Community Health Research of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University, will host a scientific conference on Public Health.  (updating...)

The GMS Public Health Academic Network

 

 

Vision

The vision of the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Public Health Academic Network is to achieve the highest possible level of health among the people and to promote health equity in the Greater Mekong Subregion. 

 

Mission

The Mission of the Greater Mekong Public Health Academic Network is to enhance regional capacity to address major public health challenges through the delivery of education, research, and policy advocacy for the improvement of population health and for health equity in the region. 

 

Objectives

The Network is committed to implementing the following objectives:

  • To enhance the quality and relevance of educational and training programs in public health in the GMS through the reform of public health education to match the needs and the challenges of the health systems;
  • To strengthen the collaboration and partnership of the public health institutions in the GMS through the development and implementation of quality teaching, research, and policy advocacy;
  • To foster collaborative actions among existing networks, policymakers, and researchers with interest in health policy and health research.

 

Structure

Areas of collaboration

The opportunities for regional collaboration may include:

  • Co-organization of conferences & meetings;
  • Exchange of faculty members, research scientists, and students;
  • Joint research activities;
  • E-learning, E-journal;
  • Mutual contribution to collaborative training programs, joint workshops for professional and faculty development;
  • Continuing education;
  • Methods of community involvement and engagement with primary health care focus;
  • Advocacy for health services for poor, marginalized, and rural populations;
  • Sharing best practices, identifying common challenges/barriers, solidarity in advising policy makers

 

The GMS Public Health Academic Network currently has its interim secretariat at the Faculty of Public Health, Khonkaen University, Thailand.
