The 13th international conference on Public Health among Greater Mekong Sub-Regional countries on "Enhancing transdisciplinary collaborations on Education and Research to tackle priority public health issues in the new Era" has following objectives:

  • To strengthen the relationship of Faculties of Public Health among the Southeast Asian countries and in the world;
  • To share research results in the field of Public Health as well as priority public health issues among greater Mekong Sub-Regional countries;
  • To search for feasible solutions to enhance international collaboration among Public Health Faculties in Mekong Sub-Region and a wider area of the Southeast Asian countries about training and research in Public Health.

An abstract should be in one paragraph with no more 350 words, describing the major aspects of the entire paper in a prescribed sequence that includes: 1) Introduction: The overall purpose of the study and the research problem(s) you investigated; 2) Objective(s): The outcomes that you aim to achieve by conducting research; 3) Method: The basic design of the study; 4) Results: Major findings or trends found as a result of your analysis; and, 5) Conclusions: a brief summary of your interpretations and conclusions.

Thua Thien Hue provincial Association of Public Health and Preventive Medicine in collaboration with the Faculty of Public Health and the Institute for Community Health Research of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University, will host a scientific conference on Public Health.  (updating...)

A/Professor VO VAN THANG is installed New Director of ICHR

On the January 7th, 2014, Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy officially announced the appointment of leaders for all Faculties/Departments/Units for the period of 2015-2019. This ceremony is one the most important events in university development for this new period.

A/Professor Vo Van Thang, Dean, Faculty of Public Health (2010 – 2014), Acting Director of the Institute for Community Health Research (ICHR), Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy, and anHonorable Professor of Queensland University of Technology (Australia) – has taken up the position as Dean of the Public Health Faculty, and is the New Director of the ICHR for the period of 2015-2019.

A/Professor VO VAN THANG is installed New Director of ICHR

About A/Professor Vo Van Thang: After graduating as a Medical Doctor in Surgery- Obstetrics at Hue College of Medicine in 1985, he completed an International Masters Degree in Public Health (1998) and a PhD in Social Hygiene and Health Organization (2006). In 2011, He was given the title of Associate Professor by the Government in Ha Noi. Due to his many contributions towards building relationships and academic developmentbetween universities,he was awarded the title of Honorary Professor of Queensland University of Technology (Australia) on April 12nd, 2014. This award is a great pride of A/professor Vo Van Thang and the University,where the staff have to be a professor at one University meeting international standards.

A/Professor Vo Van Thang has over 80 papers published in international and national Scientific Journals. As well as this, he also takes responsibility for reviewingscientific papers for Vietnamese journals and international journals in the field of public health. Prof Vo Van Thang also has much experiencein being a mentor for many research projects in public health and medical education; he has also supervised undergraduate and post graduate students in Hue City, as well as from international universities and organizations (Australia, the Netherlands, US, Italy..).

As a founding leader of the Sub-Mekong Regional Public Health Network, and recently, a new member of the Asian Health Literacy Association (AHLA) he has enabled active collaborators to participate in training and research between Hue UMP and many universities in China, Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand and the Philippines.

A/Professor VO VAN THANG is re-signed Dean of Public Health Faculty

Professor Thang expressed the view that “International collaboration is the best way to enhance staff capacity”. Under the leadership of Professor Thang, the International Collaborative Centre for Community Health Research (formerly known as the Institute for Community Health Research) has the goal of setting up international cooperation strategies and strengthening relationships with partners and organizations both locally and internationally. Based on the these relationships, The centre not only provides technical expertise for university teaching, but also creates opportunities for staff to get scholarships to study aboard. Many staff working within these collaborations obtain postgraduate training overseas. The International Collaboration has contributed greatly to the improvement of training, teaching capacity, research ability and the generation of evidence to support faculty development into the future.
