The 13th international conference on Public Health among Greater Mekong Sub-Regional countries on "Enhancing transdisciplinary collaborations on Education and Research to tackle priority public health issues in the new Era" has following objectives:

The Workshop of "Communications for Behavioral Changes to Promote Health"
The Institute for Community Health Research and the Faculty of Public Health - University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University in collaboration with WPRO - World Health Organization in the Western Pacific held a workshop themed "Communications for behavioral changes to promote health". The opening session was on May 20, 2019 and lasted for 3 days, presented by Mr. Phan Thien Dinh, Deputy Chairman of Thua Thien Hue Provincial People's Committee; Dr. Kidong Park, WHO Representative in Vietnam; A/Prof. Nguyen Vu Quoc Huy – Acting Rector, University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University.

Attending the workshop, there were representatives specialized in health education and promotion from General Department of Preventive Medicine - Ministry of Health; Communication and Education Center-Ministry of Health; Ha Noi Medical University; Da Nang University of Medical Technology and Pharmacy; Hue Central Hospital, Hue City Medical Center, and Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy; officials from the CDCs of the provinces of Thua Thien Hue, Quang Tri, Kon Tum, Khanh Hoa provinces and Da Nang city. There was also the presence of the representatives from the Institute for Development Studies and Urban Planning Association of Thua Thien Hue province. The workshop had training sessions held by experts from the World Health Organization (Western Pacific region) in the field of communication for behavior changes.

The workshop focused on the contents including building behavioral objectives, the principles of communication for behavior changes in social marketing; communication process for behavior change; scenario analysis using the tools to describe the target groups; develop a communication strategy ... In addition to the presentations by the experts, the attendees at the conference also had the opportunity to work and make the group discussions with exchanges and interaction with experts, colleagues on the field of health communication. Workshops included lessions for understanding the concepts of communication focused on behavior change and based on theoretical models and experiences from different sectors, as well as developing skills in communication strategy for effective health promotion for the community. Participants can apply knowledge and experiences from this workshop in their working practices, enhancing the effectiveness of communication strategies aimed at improving the health of community.

As a result of the workshop, the health strategies will be built and will be able to develop more, adjust properly to available resources and apply in reality.
