The 13th international conference on Public Health among Greater Mekong Sub-Regional countries on "Enhancing transdisciplinary collaborations on Education and Research to tackle priority public health issues in the new Era" has following objectives:
An abstract should be in one paragraph with no more 350 words, describing the major aspects of the entire paper in a prescribed sequence that includes: 1) Introduction: The overall purpose of the study and the research problem(s) you investigated; 2) Objective(s): The outcomes that you aim to achieve by conducting research; 3) Method: The basic design of the study; 4) Results: Major findings or trends found as a result of your analysis; and, 5) Conclusions: a brief summary of your interpretations and conclusions. The Training Course “Public Health Workforce (Community Level) in Tuberculosis Prevention and Control”
The Government of Japan and the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand had cooperatedto organize the training programs and workshop on “Strengthening Capacity for Effective Implementation of the National Tuberculosis (TB) Prevention and Control Programs in Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Vietnam (CLMV) countries” under JICA’s Third Country Training Program, from 13-26/5/2018 in Bangkok, Thailand. TheASEAN Institute for Health Development(AIHD), Mahidol University andtheBureau of Tuberculosis, Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health, Thailandwere the main organizers of the course. Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) arethe financial sponsors.The participants came from Cambodia (5), Laos PDR (7), Myanmar (10), Vietnam (2), Thailand (4) and three observers from Indonesia, Nepal, Myanmar who were post-graduate students in Public Health at Mahidol University.

The course covered a wide range of knowledge about TB prevention and control as public workforce including the following topics: from global stop TB strategy to national tuberculosis program (NTP), then to community activities; Thailand strategies for TB control; what news on TB prevention, treatment and care; TB cross-border management; TB and human resource (HR) capacity building; TB case management; sharing success story CLMVs context in different KAPs; roles and responsibilities of the community TB team; urban TB tertiary care center and national facilities; community assessment and situational analysis; TB management at provincial level to district level; community strategy planning of TB at community level; monitoring and evaluation of TB at community level. Training was with the theoretical lecturers, fruitful discussions, and team/group work assignment. After some lectures, field visit was organized to many hospitals as exploring Thailand TB Program and health system.
Through the course, participants were able to: share the current situation, experiences, successes and challenges, strengthen and develop community level TB prevention and control in Thailand and CLMV countries; develop their existing knowledge and capacity in effective health education, case findings, and DOTS program with updated concepts, information and techniques; build up their capacity and skills in project cycle management in health (TB program), and to develop a TB prevention and control plan; design and conduct monitoring and evaluation of interventions at primary health care level; develop a plan for training and conduct training to share back in respective countries for primary health; care workforce in TB prevention and control; and increase knowledge and skills in community participation, empowerment and social mobilization.
At the end of the training, participants actively presented and shared the community implementation plan for reducing the TB burden in their country.

Mr. Truong Quy Quoc Bao (Institute for Community Health Research) and Ms. Tran Thi Mai Lien (Faculty of Public Health) from Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy were the representatives of Vietnam to participate in this course.
