The 13th international conference on Public Health among Greater Mekong Sub-Regional countries on "Enhancing transdisciplinary collaborations on Education and Research to tackle priority public health issues in the new Era" has following objectives:

  • To strengthen the relationship of Faculties of Public Health among the Southeast Asian countries and in the world;
  • To share research results in the field of Public Health as well as priority public health issues among greater Mekong Sub-Regional countries;
  • To search for feasible solutions to enhance international collaboration among Public Health Faculties in Mekong Sub-Region and a wider area of the Southeast Asian countries about training and research in Public Health.

An abstract should be in one paragraph with no more 350 words, describing the major aspects of the entire paper in a prescribed sequence that includes: 1) Introduction: The overall purpose of the study and the research problem(s) you investigated; 2) Objective(s): The outcomes that you aim to achieve by conducting research; 3) Method: The basic design of the study; 4) Results: Major findings or trends found as a result of your analysis; and, 5) Conclusions: a brief summary of your interpretations and conclusions.

Thua Thien Hue provincial Association of Public Health and Preventive Medicine in collaboration with the Faculty of Public Health and the Institute for Community Health Research of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University, will host a scientific conference on Public Health.  (updating...)

The visit and work of ICCCHR with Khonkaen and Maharasakham Universities in Thailand .

At Khonkaen and Marasahakham University, the delegation shared its experience regarding the on-going and completed research projects of the centre in the field of mental health. Staff and graduate students at Khonkaen and Marasarakham universities showed  significant interest in the activities of ICCCHR.Discussions with the two Faculties of Public Health in Thailand produced the following results:

1. The Faculties of Public Health –at Khonkaen and Marasahakham universities will participate in an ICCCHR research project into the impact of educational pressure on the mental health of primary, high school and medical students in Thailand.  Findings and experiences will be shared at the International Conference on Public Health among Greater Mekong Sub-regional Countries (GMS) planned to occur in Myanmar in September 2013.

2. The Faculties of Public Health atKhonkaen and Marasahakham universities  will send teachers to take part in a number of ICCCHR short-term training courses and research activities planned for 2013.

3. Khonkaen university will invite Prof. Michael Dunne to become one of editors for its e-journal of Public Health of GMS. In addition, there will be a number of concrete collabarations between the Public Health Faculties of the three universities:

Khonkaen University will send a delegation of leaders to Hue to discuss and reach an agremeent on an International Masters of Public Health program featuring a bilateral collaborative education model (the International Masters of Public Health Co-Training Model) based on the International Masters of Public Health class implemented in 2012. This class will start at Khonkaen at the beginning of 2013 and Prof. Michael Dunne and Assoc. Prof. Vo Van Thang will be invited to deliver lectures on research methods and mental health.

5. Khonkaen University will provide one part scholarship and two full scholarships for students of the Masters of Medical Statistics program at the Faculty of Public Health, Hue UMP in 2013.

6. Student exchanges will continue between the two faculties, and in addition will be extended to Marasahakham University in 2013. A memorandum on education and research collaboration will be signed in April 2013.

The success of the visit and has demonstrated that there is an effective and firm collaboration between the institutional partners, and including Queensland University of Technology, -Australia. After three days in Thailand, the delegation returned to Hue, reported the results to Rector Prof. Dr. Cao Ngoc Thanh and planned further international collaborative activities and research for 2013.
