“Public Health Challenges in the 21st Century” ​

The theme of the 9th ICPH-GMS (2017), Yangon is “Adopting Healthy Lifestyle: Combating Non-communicable Diseases (NCDs)”. NCDs are the leading causes of death in the GMS countries at present and they create enormous health burden with serious socioeconomic implications.

In order to widen the scientific research themes and strengthen international and national relationships of young researchers and students with other Faculty of Public Health among Southeast Asian countries, Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy will host The Second Scientific Conference of Young Researchers in April 2018.

Research Cooperation development – a prerequisite to establish Community Health Research Institute.

On 30 th of June, 2013, in Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa province, based on the idea of developing Institute for Community Health Research –ICHR from  International Collaborative Centre for Community Health Research-ICCCHR belonging to Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy, a meeting between leading board of ICCCHR and representatives from three Health Departments of Khanh Hoa, Binh Dinh and Daklak provinces was held. 

In the meeting,  prof. Michael Dunne and Ass.Prof. Vo Van Thang introduce the basement to set up and develop Institute for Community Health Research (ICHR) belonging to Hue UMP- a unit specilazing in community health research-sponsored during the first three years by Atlantic  Philanthropies and Queensland University of Technology -Australia. It aims at improving research ability for lecturers and supporting five pilot provinces in Central and High-land in order to enhance quality of community-based studies which are evidences for community health care planning in area. Representatives from health departments highly agree for the idea of ICHR establishment in 2014. In furture, health departments also commit to mobilize local resources for priority developing practical and typical research with the technological support of the institute.
