Prof. Phillip Baker - Lecturer of this course Prof Dr Philip Baker is Professor of Epidemiology, School of Public Health and Social Work Queensland University of Technology. He has a PhD from the University of Queensland and a B.Sc from the University of Toronto. Prof Baker has extensive experience in epidemiology related to both clinical trials, public health settings and health policy. For several years he was Director of Epidemiology for Queensland’s health department leading the delivery of epidemiological services for communicable and chronic diseases over a large geographic area. He is an author on seven Cochrane systematic reviews, and is a journal editor for the Cochrane Public Health Group. Much of the review his work focuses on public health issues such as communitywide interventions to increase physical activity. Prof Baker engages both undergraduate and post-graduate learners in epidemiology and evidence based practice with a Real-World emphasis. His approach includes drawing upon experiences as a health practitioner, and then re-creating scenarios for engaged learning. He is experienced in providing workforce training in evidence-informed decision making and epidemiological skills for health workforces both in Australia and internationally. His main interests are in evidence-based practice, systematic reviews, knowledge translation, health services research, public health epidemiology and the scholarship of teaching and learning. |
