The 13th international conference on Public Health among Greater Mekong Sub-Regional countries on "Enhancing transdisciplinary collaborations on Education and Research to tackle priority public health issues in the new Era" has following objectives:

  • To strengthen the relationship of Faculties of Public Health among the Southeast Asian countries and in the world;
  • To share research results in the field of Public Health as well as priority public health issues among greater Mekong Sub-Regional countries;
  • To search for feasible solutions to enhance international collaboration among Public Health Faculties in Mekong Sub-Region and a wider area of the Southeast Asian countries about training and research in Public Health.

An abstract should be in one paragraph with no more 350 words, describing the major aspects of the entire paper in a prescribed sequence that includes: 1) Introduction: The overall purpose of the study and the research problem(s) you investigated; 2) Objective(s): The outcomes that you aim to achieve by conducting research; 3) Method: The basic design of the study; 4) Results: Major findings or trends found as a result of your analysis; and, 5) Conclusions: a brief summary of your interpretations and conclusions.

Thua Thien Hue provincial Association of Public Health and Preventive Medicine in collaboration with the Faculty of Public Health and the Institute for Community Health Research of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University, will host a scientific conference on Public Health.  (updating...)

46th Asia-Pacific Academic Consortium for Public Health (APACPH), Kuala Lumpur

We are proud to announce that University Malaya has been selected to host the 46th Asia-Pacific Academic Consortium for Public Health (APACPH) Conference once again for the year 2014. This is the second time that our university was chosen to host this prestigious international event. In 2008, Social & Preventive Medicine department hosted the 40th APACPH Conference and in 2012, our department hosted the 1st Asia Pacific Clinical Epidemiology and Evidence Based Medicine Conference (APCEEBM). Both events have been very successful that boost up our university positioning through various research collaborations particularly in Public health related matters among health professional members.

The APACPH President was elected from University Malaya among its members, successful relocation of the APACPH Secretariat from Honolulu to Kuala Lumpur and the setting up of committee for APJPH Journals which located in our university; further strengthen the internalization of University Malaya as hub/center of education in the Asia-Pacific region.

The 46th APACPH Conference will be held on the 17th – 19th October 2014 in KL Hilton. The theme for this upcoming conference is “Evolution of Public Health in the Asia Pacific Region”. The upcoming conference is expected to be one of the largest conferences, expecting a congregation of 600 participants with more than half coming from abroad. This conference objectives are to provide updates on public health challenges in the face of demographic and epidemiological transitions in the Asia Pacific region, to disseminate successful efforts by countries in the region to counter these public health challenges, to provide a regional platform for collaborations aimed at improving competencies in public health practices and to reiterate the Asia Pacific public health fraternity’s stand that access to adequate health care for all is an important component of human rights.
